Psp Tutorial: Merry Christmas Time

I have made this tutorial with Paint Shop Pro X2, but can be made with other Psp versions as well.

Materials: 

Plugins
XE Xtras - Elemental
Filters Unlimited 2.0
FM Tile Tools - Blend Emboss
Alien Skin Xenofex 2 - Constellation


You will also need Animation Shop.

Open the tubes in PSP, make a copy of the tubes and close the originals.


Let's get started!


1) Open a new transparent image of 1000 x 650 pixels.
Set the foreground colour to white and flood fill the image with the white colour.
2) Effects ---> Plugins ---> XE Xtras ---> Elemental:
Select Wood and White Oak.


3) Effects ---> Edge Effects ---> Enhance.
4) Effects ---> Plugins ---> Filters Unlimited 2.0 ---> Convolution Filters ---> Emboss (strong).
5) Effects ---> Plugins ---> FM Tile Tools ---> Blend Emboss ---> default settings.


6) Open the tube "BluefayTubes_christmascard" and go to Edit ---> Copy.
Go back to your work and go to Edit ---> Paste as new layer.
Move the layer a bit more to the left.


7) Activate the Selection tool Freehand Selection and use the following settings:
  • Selection type: Point to point
Select the frame like the example below:


8) Open the tube "BluefayTubes_wintertime". Copy and paste it as new layer on your image. Move the layer like the example below:


9) Go to the menu Selections ---> Invert.
Press the Delete button on your keyboard.
Now go to the menu Selections ---> Invert.

10) Open the tube "BluefayTubes_christmasrahmen" and go to Edit ---> Copy.
Go back to your work and go to Edit ---> Paste into selection.
Selections ---> Select None.

11) Open the tube "BluefayTubes_christmasdeco". Copy and paste it as new layer on your image. Place the tube as in the example below.


12) Open the tube "merrychristmasText". Copy and paste it as new layer on your image. Move the text to the bottom on the left side.
13) Effects ---> 3D Effects ---> Drop shadow: 10, 10, 50, 15.00, black.
14) Layers ---> New raster layer. Fill this layer with the colour white.

15) Layers ---> Load/Save Mask ---> Load mask from disk.
Search for the mask "christmasmask" and use the following settings:


Layers ---> Merge ---> Merge group.

16) Effects ---> 3D Effects ---> Drop shadow: 10, 10, 50, 15.00, black.
17) Effects ---> Plugins ---> FM Tile Tools ---> Blend Emboss ---> default settings.


18) Layers ---> Merge ---> Merge Visible.
19) Go to Adjust ---> Hue and Saturation ---> Colorize and use the following settings:


20) Image ---> Resize with 90%:


21) Layers ---> New Raster Layer.
Fill it with the white colour.
22) Layers ---> Arrange ---> Send to Bottom.

23) Layers ---> New Raster Layer.
Fill it with the white colour.
24) Layers ---> Load/Save Mask ---> Load mask from disk.
Search for the mask "christmasmask2" and use the following settings:


For now, you're not seeing anything on the mask layer, but don't worry :-)
Layers ---> Merge ---> Merge Group.

25) Effects ---> 3D Effects ---> Drop shadow: 5, 5, 50, 4.00, black.
26) Effects ---> Plugins ---> FM Tile Tools ---> Blend Emboss ---> default settings.
27) Go to Adjust ---> Hue and Saturation ---> Colorize and use the following settings:


28) Layers ---> Merge ---> Merge Down.
29) Activate the top layer.

30) Selections ---> Select All.
Selections ---> Float.
Selections ---> Defloat.

31) Selections ---> Modify ---> Select Selection Borders: Outside, Anti-Alias: checked, Border width: 4.
32) Add a new raster layer and fill it with the colour white.
33) Activate your Magic Wand and click in the center of the image to select it.


34) Layers ---> Merge ---> Merge Visible.
35) Open the tube "BluefayTubes_StripedSantaHat". Copy and paste it as new layer on your image. Move the tube to the right, like the example below.




36) Activate the bottom layer.
37) Selections ---> Invert.

38) Effects ---> 3D Effects ---> Drop shadow: 10, 10, 50, 15.00, black.
39) Selections ---> Select None.
40) Add a new raster layer and fill it with the white colour.
41) Selections ---> Select All.
Selections ---> Modify ---> Contract: 2 pixels.
Press on the Delete button on your keyboard.

42) Add your name/watermark on your image.
43) Activate the bottom layer.

44) Effects ---> Plugins ---> Alien Skin Xenofex 2.0 ---> Constellation:


Edit ---> Copy.
Open Animation Shop and go to Edit ---> Paste ---> Paste as new animation.

45) Go back to PSP.
Edit ---> Undo Constellation.

Repeat the Constellation plugin, but change the Star Size value to 4.00 and don't change the value of Random Seed. Just press on OK.

Edit ---> Copy Merged.
Go back to Animation Shop and go to Edit ---> Paste ---> Paste after current frame.

Check the result by clicking on View and safe your image as GIF format.

46) Done!
