Psp tutorial: Merry Christmas

The original tutorial was written by Marian in Dutch. Her website could be found here.

This tutorial will be written in English.

==========

This tutorial was made in PSP 9, but can also be done in other versions of PSP.

Materials: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fcOXsFCXduE/UpXJmv073EI/AAAAAAAAFKY/YYXn_kSUBdU/s200/4shared_logo_500x480.png
You'll also need Animation Shop.
Put the texture in the Textures folder of PSP.

  • Open a new transparent image of 720 x 520 pixels.
  • Set the foreground colour to #dbd1cb and fill the image with the foreground colour.
  • Effects ---> Texture Effects ---> Texture
  • Open the menu by clicking the arrow next to the box, look for and select the texture "Gestreept", with the following settings:
  • Layers ---> Duplicate
  • Image ---> Resize to 85%, all layers unchecked. You will not see anything changing, but be patient.
  •  Select ---> Select All. Selections ---> Float. Select ---> Defloat. Now you'll see the selection of the duplicated layer and reduced.
  • Open the tube "Winter Ride eclipse", and go to Edit ---> Copy. Go back to your work and go to Edit ---> Paste ---> Paste into selection.
  • Set the Opacity of this layer to 84%.
  • Keep the selection. Layers ---> New Raster Layer
  •  Open the tube "Winterframe", and go to Edit ---> Copy. Go back to your work and go to Edit ---> Paste ---> Paste into selection.
  •  Adjust ---> Hue and Saturation ---> Colorize: Hue 32, Saturation 29
  • Effects ---> 3D Effects ---> Drop Shadow:
  • Repeat the drop shadow, but by changing the vertical and horizontal offset to -1.
  • Selections ---> Select None.
  • Open the tube "GraffixLover~12-02-06~ChristmasChild01", and go to Edit ---> Copy
  • Go back to your work and go to Edit ---> Paste ---> Paste as new layer
  • Image ---> Resize to 85%, all layers unchecked. Move the tube to the bottom on the right side.
  •  Layers ---> Duplicate
  • Effects ---> Plugins ---> FM Tile Tools ---> Blend Emboss with standard settings
  •  Effects ---> Plugins ---> Xero ---> Porcelain and use the following settings:

  • Open the tube "GGBow_022", and go to Edit ---> Copy.
    Go back to your work and go to Edit ---> Paste ---> Paste as new layer
    Image ---> Resize to 85%, all layers unchecked
  • Move the bow to the top left
  • Effects ---> 3D Effects ---> Drop Shadow:
  • Repeat the drop shadow, but by changing the vertical and horizontal offset to -1.
  •  Set the background colour to #e2d9d4.
  •  Activate the Text tool and select the font "Beurre" with the following settings:
  • Write your text and position it, just like the example.
  • Layers ---> Convert to Raster Layer.
  • Effects ---> 3D Effects> Drop Shadow ---V and H 1, O 70, B 7.
  • Activate the bottom layer (the background or raster 1).
    Effects ---> 3D Effects ---> Inner Bevel:
  • Add on a new layer, your name and/or your watermark.
  • If you do not want to animate your tag go to Layers ---> Merge ---> Merge all and save as jpg format.

For the animation

  • Don't merge the layers (flatten).
  • Activate the layer with the image of the snowy landscape (if you will click that layer, it will have a blue background).
  • Click on the Selection Tool Rectangle on the toolbar ----> Rectangle and choose the selection type Rectangle.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EYIpS8YM3l8/Us1TZlmbRwI/AAAAAAAAF_M/cnfU4dxC0s8/s151/Image%25209.jpg
  • Now select the frame:
  • Effects ---> Plugins ---> VanDerLee Adrenaline ---- Snowflakes:
  • Selections ---> Select None.
  • Edit ---> Copy Special ---> Copy Merged
  •  Open Animation Shop.
    Click with the right mouse button on the blank space and paste as a new animation.
  • Back to PSP.
    Edit ---> Undo No selection.
    So you have the selected area again.
  • Edit ---> Undo Snowflakes.
    Now you have the selected area again without the plugin.
  • Effects ---> Plugins ---> VDL Adrenaline - Snowflakes, with the same settings, but change the Random Seed value to 100.
  • Selections ---> Select None.
    Edit ---> Copy Special ---> Copy Merged.
  • Back to Animation Shop and go to Edit ---> Paste ---> Paste after current frame.
  • Again back in PSP.
    Edit ---> Undo No selection.
    Edit ---> Undo Snowflakes.
    Repeat with Snowflakes, changing the Random Seed to 150.
    Selections ---> Select None.
    Edit ---> Copy Merged.
  • Again in Animation Shop choose Edit ---> Paste ---> Paste after current frame.
  • Your animation is composed of three frames, now it is ready.
    Click on the first frame to select it and go to Edit ---> Select All.
    Animation ---> Frame Properties and set the speed to 35.
  • Resize the image if you want, and save it as gif format.
  • Your image is ready!
